Digital = Flexible
We can use technology in ways that leverage its inherent
flexibility, as shown by the process we used with 2nd and
3rd graders to create an investigative report. Note how
the same digital material gets modified for different
purposes along the way.
Our first day, we chose
to write about a recent epidemic of bee stings, and
brainstormed questions.
An Inspiration diagram
helped us organize our thoughts.
Next, we brainstormed
ways to find answers to our questions.
Then we went out to
gather information, came back and added it to our
diagram.
Switching to an outline,
we could turn our information into sentences and give
it order. We also added a lead and conclusion.
We sent it to a word
processor, added our own illustrations, and made it
into a final article, ready to publish!
